This medium weighted Pinot Noir is from Tolna, Hungary and has all the red currant, savoury herb and some deeper gamey notes that you would expect to find in a good Bourgogne Rouge, but unlike Burgundy, it is available at the very attractive price point. Due to its land-locked location and the shielding effect of the mountains, Hungary enjoys a relatively dry, continental climate with cold winters and warm summers. In other words, the best conditions for growing aromatic, white varieties of grapes, as well as red varieties which are able to fully ripen in this location.
